So what is WNV about? Here's the cover copy:

Here’s the problem we too often have: seeing the Other as our enemy simply because they’re capital-D-Different, with customs and belief systems which don’t match our own. In the universe of WORLDS NOT VISIBLE, there are many such ‘Others.’

There were the people of the Old Protectorate and the Newlands, across the wide dividing Wustani Sea. The Newlanders fled from the old Protectorate, due to the despotism of the Protectorate’s rulers. The novel follows two Newlanders, Rabka Samman and Kuri Mafouz.

But even in the Newlands, across the Wustani Sea, all is not peaceful. There, the people are divided into family-based Houses, which are often at odds with one other. And there are the ‘others’:

--There are the shreeliala, an aquatic species, with whom the Newlanders have an uneasy truce. No one’s quite certain what the shreeliala agenda is, on whose side they might be on, or what internal conflicts drive their society.

--There are the kohrina, a semi-nomadic reptilian species with whom the Newlanders are in constant conflict, since they and the Newlanders share some of the same territory. There have been frequent wars, battles, and killings between these two species since the Newlanders’ arrival, largely due to initial miscommunications between the kohrina and the Newlanders, but also due to the Newlanders building their towns and cities on land the kohrina claim for their own usage.

--And there are the “Strange Ones” within each of the races, individuals who don’t look or act quite ‘right’ and all of whom share odd physical characteristics.

In this complicated world, the search for a way to co-exist will be neither easy nor quick.
